How did you find our class website?

If you could build a second house anywhere, where would it be?

Hawaii - I love the weather and the pace there. Or maybe Ireland (Galway) - I love the scenery and the people.

Do you still have family that live around Crystal Lake?

Yes. My sister Lizz and her husband John Dewey live in C.L. as does my youngest brother, Bill. My dad currently resides in the Fountains in CL.

How often do you get back to Crystal Lake?

a lot.

Would you ever move back to the Crystal Lake area?

not sure - I think I'd prefer something a bit more rural, like CL used to be.

What got you into the kind of work you are or were doing?

Was employed as a Revenue Officer for the US Treasury/IRS for 30 years. Took the job because it paid more than social work. Did well - received numerous awards for performance, involvement in Equal Opportunity. Was nominated for Michael Dillon Award, the highest honor for a revenue officer, and was finalist for federal law enforcement employee in our area.

What previous jobs did you do?

housing counselor and social worker for community action agency. Worked "the line" at Motorola as a wirer and solderer while I was looking for a job in my field. One of the worst jobs I had was making boxes at Big Beam - I quit after 3 days.

What did you do immediately following high school?

After working at Goodsell for the summer, I went to U of I at Champaign, received B.S in LAS with a degree in Social Work. At the time, you had to have five major/minor areas of study for that degree.

What do you see yourself doing in 2029?

I'll still be retired, probably doing some volunteer work.

School Story:

Our senior year I made a cake for the cake walk and Patty Black decorated it so it looked like a tiger. It was fantastic, but it was so huge we had to put it on a piece of plywood to take it to the school. The kid who won it had to have his father bring his station wagon to pick it up.

Do you still see/talk to/hang out with any classmates? Who?

in contact with Jean Iwaniw (Gordon), Marian Ossman (Collins), Peggy McGuire (Dickstein) and Jean Kahle.

What have been the high points of your life since high school?

I'd like to think that there are still many high points to come, but I really loved being at U of I during the late 60s-early 70's. It was a time of change, sexual revolution, women's lib, political activism, marches, the first Earth Day, etc. There's a similar kind of excitement now so I can't wait to see what this decade brings!

What do you like to do in your spare time?

read, travel (mostly cruises), movies. talk with friends, quilt

Favorite places to visit?

I love traveling almost anywhere (the States, Europe, Canada, Mexico, Caribbean, etc.) but I particularly like Hawaii (Molokai), Ireland (Galway), and Britain (London).

Places you want to visit but have not yet done so?

probably back to europe. I've been to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Blegium and part of Italy, so that leaves plenty of european countries that I have yet to visit.

What would we be surprised to know about you?

that I won a trophy for women's skeet shooting and have my pro marksman pin (which I earned at church camp!)

What famous or interesting people have you met?

Met Walter Payton at his bar. Had photo taken with Fabio.

What cool things have you done? (Cool being defined as whatever YOU think is cool!)

Lived with and studied the Winnebagos in WI during my senior break at U of I.

Watched the sunrise with someone? Tell us about it!

Drove to the top of Mount Haleakala with a friend while in Hawaii. We didn't realize it would be so cold up there before sunrise and we almost froze our butts off! And we almost scared ourselves to death when we had to drive down the mountain and could then see how steep it was!

Where were you born?

Columbia, Mo.

Have you ever been on TV? Tell us the story!

When I was young we lived in Springfield, IL. There was a local show called Pegwell Circus, kind of like Bozo. I remember the host commenting on my pretty dress (black velvet top with blue crinkled skirt with black velvet snowflakes on it).

Name something you love.

my dog, Waggers

When was the last time you belly laughed?

just yesterday when I was with some friends.
